Prevent creation of System Volume Information folder on USB in Windows 10 Creators Update

I have a external hard drive with 1TB capacity and NTFS format. I connected it with my Surface Pro 3 tablet via USB 3.0 and used it for backups files. However, the Windows 10 system created the System Volume information folder like $SysReset and MSOCache and that took around 124GB of space. I deleted those transferred folders but they repeated after I plugged in again and removed the USB. So I configured GPEDIT to get rid of that and it worked fine. Continue reading

I had used the external microphone and USB flash drive in Windows 8.1 on my Surface Pro 3 tablet and everything was fine. However, after upgraded to Windows 10, the system claimed that those devices were turned on while became not working at all. Fix slow USB 3.0 file transfer speed in Windows 10, 8.1

I use my Seagate 1TB SATA3 Desktop Drive to copy files normally using explorer in Windows 10 Pro. It is recognized as the presence of a USB 3.0 controller and the USB 3 ports works correctly, but an initial transfer rate of approximately 100Mb/s keep droping down to about 25 Mb/s. USB 3.0 External Hard Drive not Recognized in Windows 8.1

After upgraded my computer to Windows 8.1 RTM, I plug my Seagate Backup Plus 4TB USB 3.0 external hard drive and it is not recognized. The Disk Management also doesn’t show it. Using other HDD and different USB port get the same problem. Then I run the Troubleshooter and it found “USB Root Hub Driver (xHCI) has a Problem. USB 3.0 drivers not working on Surface Pro

My USB 3.0 flash drive works fine with my Windows computers with a 3.0 or 2.0 port. When I connect it to my Surface Pro Windows 8 tablet, it works once and then show error “USB device not recognized.” or “Intel(r) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver isn’t compatable with Windows 8” message if I plug it in again. Pluging in with a USB 2.0 extension cable but only transfer at 2.0 speeds. Doing a system refresh still get the same problem. Continue reading
