Direct ethernet connection network path not found in Windows 10 v1803 update

My Surface Pro 5 and HP Spectre 360 laptops are running Windows 10 Pro and on my work domain. I setup them to have the static IP (192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2) and 255.255.255.0 as subnet mask, with blank Gateway and DNS. I connect both devices using a regular ethernet cable and transfer files by Direct ethernet connection. The shared folders function was fine, but now is not working after install the version 1803 updates. Any way to resolve the problem? Continue reading

Windows 10 v1803 installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase

My Windows 10 computer is running on version 1709 and can not upgrade to april 2018 cumlative v1803. I do that through the Windows Upgrade Assistant or a clean ISO. But the installation fails in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation. Then I try lots of methods, such as delete the SoftwareDistribution folder, disable the antivirus software and remove SD card, and nothing works. I press the power button to force it to shutdown then restart and it still stuck at the splash screen with the error. How can I get it working normally? Continue reading

AppData Roaming Folder Redirection not working in Windows 10 v1803

I had configured Folder Redirection with my local user account on Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 Pro with v1709. After upgraded to the latest build of v1803, the AppData Folder is not longer getting redirected. I open the folder properties and the location tab is missing, so it is not way to manually map it. Then I try to apply that via GPO, but it gets “Redirection setting=0×1021.Error: The folder can’t be redirected. Unknown error” messsage. How can I resolve the problem? Continue reading

Fix Laggy app and mouse freeze in Windows 10 v1803 update

I have upgraded my computer to Windows 10 1803 build. When I log into my desktop and open the File Explorer, it always stuck at “not responding”. The Settings app displays “installing…” message for seconds and then “preparing to install”. I have to reboot the PC and complete the update process. However, I use the Chrome and Microsoft office apps and it is laggy and runs slowly. The mouse point also freeze for unknown reason. Any way to resolve the problem? Continue reading

Fix Photoshop there’s not enough RAM in Windows 10 v1803

I used Photoshop CC 2018 well on my Surface Pro 4 on Windows 10 v1709. After I upgrade the tablet to v1803 update, I drag a 2500px transparent .png into the image and it keeps saying there’s not enough RAM warning. But the device has 8GB of RAM and I don’t run other software at the same time. Then I go to change the RAM configure under the Performance tab in Preferences settings, while it pops up “a value between 8 and 96 required” message. PDF default to Edge, JPG to Paint after Windows 10 v1803 update

My Windows 10 computer was upgraded to version 1803 overnight. Today when I wake it up from sleep mode, many things has been changed. The pdf files format is kept reverting to its own Edge browser, as well as the jpg, gif, bmp, png formats are default to Paint 3D program. Cannot enable BitLocker with AD-stored keys on Windows 10 v1803 update

I was able to use the TPM module and store the recovery key in Active Directory on my Windows 10 computers with v1709. After installed the version 1803 update with May cumulative, the task sequence fail to be executed. I could not enable Bitlocker function and it alters “AD schema isn’t configured to run BitLocker Drive Encryption.” I am sure the TPM, UEFI components are up to date. Network sharing computers cannot see each other after Windows 10 1803 update

I have configured the shared files on my 3 home computers and two Surface Pro 3 tablets and they worked fine. After I upgrade all devices to Windows 10 version 1803, actually them can not see each other in Windows File Explorer. I try lots of methods, such as change the workgroup and PC name, Turned off firewalls and antivirus, make a rebooting, but nothing takes effects. HDMI not working with 2nd display after Windows 10 v1803 update

My Windows 10 laptop with NVidia Geforce 930MX ran with multiple monitor well on Fall Creator Update (v1709). After I install the April 2018 Update v1803, the second display is not working at all and refused to be recognized. I plug into HDMI cable or connect DisplayLink via USB and nothing happens. Within the Device Manager, Graphics item get a Yellow triangle with “Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)” error. Mail account system error can’t get mail after Windows 10 v1803 update

I had setup my Gmail account in the built-in mail app on my Surface Pro 3 tablet and everything worked smoothly. However, I face the problem after installed the Windows 10 version 1803 updates. I could not receive and not send email messages, due to the mail server doesn’t connect. On the main screen, the accounts heading just display the “System error. Can’t get mail.” error. I have never made changes with pop/smtp and other settings with my current account. How can I resolve it on my tablet? Continue reading
