Windows 10 explorer.exe the data area passed to a system call is too small

I have setup the OneDrive and enabled the syncing feature in Windows 10 on my Surface Pro 4. Everything worked fine since the recent updates are applied. When I search for pdf in File Explorer and try to open it, a dialog box pops up “Explorer.exe error. The data area passed to a system call is too small“. Now I could not access those document. That also happen with some image files under a OneDrive folder. How can I resolve the problem on my tablet? Continue reading

File Explorer show incorrect Folder Size in Windows 10 1803 update

Everything worked fine in Windows 10, since my Surface Pro 3 has been upgraded and applied to the version 1803 updates. After I transferred some file data from my old Dell PC to my tablet, I right clicked the folder to select Properties. Then I noticed that the folder size was less than actual size in File Explorer. If I went inside and selected all sub-folders, it displayed the size correctly. They are not hidden and my dropbox folder also ran into the same problem. How can I resolve it completely? File Explorer unresponsive and crashes when right click on JPG/PDF on Windows 10

My Surface Pro 3 is running the Windows 10 Pro.It worked fine since the version 1803 update. Recently I use mouse to right click on any JPG file in C or D drive, the File Explorer turns into unresponsive and crashes then restart itself. The problem also happens with specific Filename Extension, such as .png, .rtf, .bmp, .txt, .pptx, .pdf, Office .xlsx and .docx. The execute and csv files can be opened. JPG cannot preview in File Explorer after Windows 10 fall update 1709

I am a graphic designer and put lots of photos on my Windows 10 computer. After installed the Fall Update (1709), the File Explorer doesn’t preview any jpg files. But others format files like pdf, xlxs, docx display fine in the preview pane. Now I have to open the JPG one by one to see if it’s the file I’m looking for. File Explorer blink/crash when minimize folder on Windows 10

My Surface Pro 3 runs the Windows 10 Pro and has upgraded to Fall Creators Update. When I open this PC in File Explorer and navigate to any folder, I try to resize or snap it so that the window doesn’t fill the entire screen. Then the contents start blinking and crashing. I have to restart the system to use it temporarily. But I move File Explorer to the additional monitor and it still runs into the same problem. How can I resolve it on my tablet? Continue reading

Windows 10 taskbar flashes and File Explorer crashes in safe mode

I had upgraded my Surface Pro 4 from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Pro and everything worked fine. However, after installed the Fall Creators Update on my tablet, the taskbar keeps flashing while the File Explorer always crashes randomly. Sometimes it loads normally and I right clicks on a file to rename or performs that by keyboard. Then the window just flashes up blank/green and closes on its own. It doesn’t pop up any error message. The explorer.exe crashes immediately after I boot into sage mode. How can I resolve the problem? Continue reading

Windows 10 File Explorer does not Auto Refresh with folder

I have upgraded my Surface Pro 4 tablet to Windows 10 Pro from 8.1 successfully. Everytime I move or download a file from Internet, or save a new office document, it does not show in my opened window for that folder in File Explorer. I have to press the F5 key to do a refresh. Remove 3D Objects folder in This PC Pane of File Explorer in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

If you have upgraded your tablet or computer to Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, there are many new features and improvements. When I open the This PC, 6 default folders like Documents, Downloads, Music are visible while a new folder named 3D Objects is displayed in the navigation pane of File Explorer. Windows 10 File explorer keeps searching for files with working on it

When I open the File Explorer on my Surface Pro tablet, it starts going into a loop of searching for something constantly in Quick Access or This PC mode. The folder tree and files don’t list from there. It just shows the “Working on it” message at the bottom and a green bar runs across the screen slowly. I have to tap on the X at the bar to stop the searching process. It happens after installed the anniversary update. How can I resolve the problem? Continue reading

Windows 10 Libraries folder missing in save as Navigation pane

I have got problem in Windows 10 on my Surface Pro 4 tablet. When I right click an image on a webpage and use “Save As” option on Edge browser, the pop-up explorer window doesn’t show the “Libraries” folder in the navigation pane, such as Documents, Music. I have to go inside a folder which is included in my pictures library to do that. It also happens with save office word/excel file and I need to go to This PC > MyData > Documents.
