How to remove Advertising in Windows 10 Start menu, File Explorer and Action Center

Windows 10 Creators Update comes with many improvements and new features, but the use of in-box advertising also get worse and more pervasive. It is annoying for many people and it is easy to turn them off completely. You could try the method to prevent this from happening on your Surface Pro tablet or other Windows 10 computer.

Start menu
* In the left side, the Most Used list always displays an unnecessary “Suggested” section for adverting users to get a Windows Store app or game on your device. To remove it, click on Start menu, open the Settings app (or press Win + I keys), click on Personalization > Start, and set “Occasionally show suggestions in Start” from On to Off.
* In the right side, some ad tiles for apps and games are preconfigured but they are not installed actually. Simply right click on one item and select “Unpin from Start”. Repeat the same way for others.
File Explorer Advertising
* Go to the View tab of File Explorer, click on Options option, select the “Change folder and search options”. In the View tab of the Folder Options, uncheck “Show sync provider notifications.” box, and click OK button.
Lock screen
* The Windows Spotlight feature show advertising for Microsoft Edge like “Browse with peace of mind”. Withn Settings app, go to Personalization > Lock Screen, change the Background option from Windows Spotlight to Picture or Slideshow in the dorp-down menu, and use a image you want to apply.
Action Center
Windows 10 pops up the unnecessary notifications and suggestion in Action Center. To get rid of that, navigate to System > Notifications & Actions in the Settings app, move the slider of “Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows” and “Show me the Windows welcome experience after updates ….” to Off.
