A few poeple have got strange problem with missing one or more accounts after upgrading their tablet or computer to Windows 8.1 from 8. There was multiple local user accounts but now one is hidden or missing in the system. Any solution to recover own settings and get it back?
I also have the same issues in Windows 8.1. In Control Plane, it is no way to create a new user with the same old name. When I open File Explorer to access all-Users directory, the rename option is greyed out. However, I load the System Properties and noticed that it is only invisible and not belong to any group in “Advanced” tab. Now go to start the recover process.
* From Start screen, input Command Prompt in Search Charm bar, right-click on it in the results, and select “Run as administrator“.
* Type the commands below and then press Enter to execute it:
net localgroup "Administrators" [Your-Computer-Name]\[The-Missing-Username] /add
* If you don’t knwn Your-Computer-Name, try the tips:
Press the Win + R from keyboard, type control.exe sysdm.cpl, and click Ok button. In the System Properties, click the Computer Name Tab, and you should see the information you need.
