How to Disable SkyDrive Integration in Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 update is integrated with SkyDrive more deeply. That includes seamless File Explorer, document save and camera roll integration, so that users can quickly save files into cloud. However, some people don’t feel handy, because there is no configuration options. How to uninstall the service or disable skydrive integration in Windows 8.1 preview completely?

If you would like to physically remove the integration from the new OS, try the following step by step:
* Open Charms menu, click the Search, type Group Policy, click the Settings area and then select the app to open it.
You can also press Win + R key, type gpedit.msc in the box and hit Enter.
* In the Group Policy Editor, navigate to the path below:

Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\SkyDrive

* Change the “Prevent the usage of SkyDrive for file storage” policy setting to Enable.

Now the SkyDrive node is gone from Explorer left navigation pane and you won’t access syncing files. The method only works in Pro version.
