Fix Windows 8.1 bluetooth not working issues

I have upgraded my ultrabook to the Windows 8.1 Preview but get a bluetooth problem. My Bluetooth mouse and keyboard were already paired in Windows 8, but they works for awhile and disconnects and then keeps searching. Apparently the system can’t find any new device. Now the Bluetooth devices frequently disconnect and show “The btvstack could not be started” error message.

There are still some bugs in the new OS. If the bluetooth is not working in Windows 8.1, try the following tips to resolve the problem:
* Run the Bluetooth service supports to discovery and associate remote Bluetooth devices.
Press Win + R keys, type services.msc and click OK.
Locate “Bluetooth Support Service“, double click on it
From General tab, change the Startup type to AUTOMATIC.
From Log On tab, check “This account” radio button, input your account name or pick it from the search menu, then remove both the hidden password.
Restart your PC.
* Reinstall the driver.
Go to your manufacturer’s site and download the related Bluetooth adapter drivers.
If it is not compatible with Windows 8.1, you need to type regedit in start screen and open it, navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/CurrentVersion

and change the value from 6.3 to 6.2.

  1. I have ubgraded my DELL LAPTOP INSPIRON N5010 from WINDWS 7 SP1 to WINDOWS 8 then WINDOWS 8.1. Then I found then there is no BLUETOOTH in my PC. I install many softwares like INTEL PROSET WIRELESS BLUETOOTH…. AND DRIVER FORM MANUFATURES. But it did not work. Then I have tried this bluetooth driver from dell on my PC(CIRRENTLY RUNNING PIRATED WINDOWS 8) … IT WORKS. BUT WHEN HERE I TRY TO INSTALL IT… IT SHOWS compatibility issues and from INST.exe it shows **ERROR APPLYING TRANSFORM. VERIFY THAT THE SPECIFIED TRANFORM ARE INVILID..
    PLEASE email me instruction to rissolve this issue.

  2. ^ How do I find what my account name is? Or where do I search in the menu for it? And when I delete those passwords and click Apply, they come right back. Same with clicking Ok. Then when I restart my laptop, it the program is still there and nothing has changed.

    • Open Charms bar, click Settings > Change PC settings. Then click on Accounts, and your Account Name is displaying on the top of the right side.

  3. I had this same problem and after hours of reading forum posts and articles, I did some research on my own and found the solution and fix for this problem.
    I share that solution on my blog as I am not wanting to provide duplicate content on Google by posting the same information in too many places. I do feel it is important to get the word out however as this seems to be quite an ongoing issue and problem after the Windows 8.1 upgrade on many devices.
