VPN allows you securely connect to your Server network with the PPTP package installed while used public Wi-Fi hotspots. The Windows 8′s built-in VPN client on Surface Pro tablet supports these VPN types: Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP), Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPSec (L2TP/IPSec), Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP) and IKEv2.
How to Setup VPN Connection on Surface Pro Windows 8
* Press WIN + F key or swip from the right corner and select Search. Type VPN in the box, select on Setting, and clcik “Set up a virtual private network (VPN) connection” from the results.
* In desktop mode, type an IP address or the domain name of your server in the “Internet Address” field, and a profile name like “My Home server” in “Destination Name” field, check “Remember Credentials” and click “Create” button. Then the VPN type will be auto-detected by Surface Pro.
* Use the Win + C hotkey to open Charms, click Settings > the network icon, select your new VPN connection near the top, click Connect. Enter your username and passowrd, and then click OK button to start.
If you want to change the profile like Configure PPP, tunnels, authentication, right-click your VPN connection and choose View Connection Properties.
