Fix Wake on LAN(WOL) not working in Windows 8

Wake-on-LAN feature allows you to powers up your remote PC by a network message. After I update my computer to Windows 8 pro and have turned on all the settings for WOL, Wake On LAN is still not working on hardware but worked fine on Windows 7 and xp. How can I fix the issues?

* Only works for Intel adapters. Press Windows + R keys on your keyboard, type “ncpa.cpl” > OK. Click Configure > Advanced tab, select “Enable PME” from the lists and change its value to “Enable”.
* Other method by disabling Fast Startup (HiberbootEnabled). Open the Windows Registry editor, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ ControlSet001 \ Control \ Session Manager \ Power
double-click HiberbootEnabled key and set the value data to 0 and then back to 1.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Session Manager \ Power
Change the value of HiberbootEnabled to 0.

Update: For Surface Pro, you need to use usb 3.0 ethernet network adapter
